#Uttarakhand STF Cracks Down on Massive Cybercrime Ring: Largest Fake SIM Card Seizure in India The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttarakhand's cybercrime unit has pulled off a remarkable feat, dismantling a major cybercrime ring and seizing thousands of fake SIM cards in the process. This operation marks a significant milestone, not only for the state but for the entire country, as it represents the largest recovery of fake SIM cards ever made by the STF. The investigation began with a complaint from a #Dehradun resident who fell victim to an elaborate online scam. Lured into a seemingly legitimate stock trading group on WhatsApp, the victim soon realized they were entangled in a fraudulent scheme. Determined to get justice, they reported the incident to the authorities, setting the wheels of justice in motion. The STF's investigation meticulously unraveled the intricate web of the scam. They discovered that the perpetrator, Mudassir Mirza, had obtained a staggering number of M2M (Machine-to-Machine) SIM cards, typically used for devices like smart meters and vending machines. By exploiting the anonymity and ease of bulk activation offered by these specialized SIM cards, Mirza established a fake company called XENO TECHNOLOGY and distributed the cards among his agents. These agents then used the activated SIM cards on multiple devices to perpetrate the investment scam on unsuspecting victims across the country, targeting individuals on platforms like #Telegram, #Instagram, #Facebook, and #WhatsApp. The scale of the fraud was staggering, amassing an estimated Rs 80 lakh from victims nationwide. However, the STF's relentless pursuit of justice paid off. They meticulously tracked Mirza down to Delhi and apprehended him, seizing a vast trove of fake SIM cards in the process. This landmark operation serves as a stark reminder of the ever-evolving landscape of cybercrime and the importance of vigilance in our online interactions. Senior Superintendent of Police Ayush Aggarwal emphasized the need for caution, urging the public to be wary of investment offers on social media and to verify the legitimacy of companies before making any financial transactions. He also encouraged individuals to report any suspicious activity to the authorities promptly. While the arrest of Mirza and the seizure of the fake SIM cards mark a significant victory, the STF's work continues. They are now delving deeper into the criminal network, utilizing the crucial information gleaned from Mirza to dismantle the entire operation and bring all those involved to justice. #News #BreakingNews #UttarakhandNews
