BB&T, which stood for Branch Banking and Trust Company, was a regional bank based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA. It was one of the largest financial institutions in the United States and operated in various states across the country. In February 2019, BB&T announced a merger with SunTrust Banks, another major American bank, to create a new entity called Truist Financial Corporation. The merger was completed in December 2019. Truist Financial Corporation is now the sixth-largest bank in the United States by assets and operates under the Truist brand.
