Was just watching a tv show. Thought I recognized a location as a spot I had visited once. I paused it, took a pic of the TV with my phone, uploaded that image to Google Lens and it instantly identified the skyline of… a place I’ve never been. A very futuristic let down!

Replit and its AI thing is cool. I gave it a couple paragraphs of details for a react app to pull data from PostHog. A couple hours later, its auto-loading new events, deployed, and locked down with google oauth.

Is it me or Google Scholar is not working as it used to? It seems that not so relevant papers/journals now show up first, regardless of the filters. If I search a topic that I'm not so familar with I can't seem to find seminal work or highly cited references.

I’ve been fascinated by geo-tagged photos for almost as long as geotagged photos exist. We used to upload photos on Panoramio when they didn’t come geotagged straight from phone, we would manually add coordinates to them. Unfortunately, Google bought Panoramio and shut it down.
