Obviously the BART outage is bad, but in most major cities an outage would have been far worse as there would be fewer to no viable public transportation alternatives.

Just In: No Transbay Tube service on BART as they've been told to power down by SF firefighters. A spokesperson said there were earlier reports of smoke in the tube. BART is working on a bridge with AC Transit.
