One thing I didn’t take into account when I moved a production app from Heroku to @Railway is that they literally have 0 support. Their forum is now filled with reports on apps being down for more than 12 hours because of a Redis issue. 0 response. Don’t move to Railway.

Of course I releaed a new product to existing customers and Heroku goes down one hour later

When I first joined Appleton, which became Spur I saw the power and annoying things that Heroku offered to a growing application. It was amazing to be able to scale up, scale down and switch node types on the fly as needed. Our team was always optimizing based on performance

Whoa - Datadog's largest-ever outage in 2023 was caused by the same thing as Heroku's largest-ever one this June. Same OS version (Ubuntu 22.04), same process (sytemd) If Heroku had done the same changes Datadog publicly shared in 2023, Heroku's outage would not have happened.

If you got caught in the Heroku outage, and in particular if your stack is JS/TS, consider giving Cloudflare a go. Everyone goes down from time to time, but the fact the status page was also down is just wild. As a bonus, the platform is awesome, quick to learn, and rapid 🚀
